History

The San Marcos Foundation (SMF) was founded in 2017 by Daisy Shlakman and Andrew Ettinger, two passionate San Marcos community members who previously worked and volunteered with various local nonprofits.

Inspired by the possibility of innovating community improvement models, they decided to incorporate the San Marcos Foundation to expand on their previous work. Kate Lazarov joined the organization soon afterward with a background in technology and nonprofit management from Silicon Valley.

In 2018 we expanded our team to meet the needs of our expanding programs in the community.

Projects like ”Un Huevo al día” where we were providing one egg to each student in 3 different schools in San Marcos. As well we provided WiFi connections to the schools so the students could have more opportunities to learn.

Currently, we have 3 active projects; our sterilization clinic, puppy sanctuary, and the street feeding project.
